Choosing between the Audi Q7 vs. Audi Q5 can be difficult, especially if you’ve never driven an SUV. Victory Mitsubishi has both of these popular Audi models in stock and can show you the differences in person, but you can learn more about these luxury SUVs below, as well. The Audi Q5 starts at $45,395 while the Audi Q7 starts at $60,395 for the base trim level. That’s a significant difference, so if budget is a major concern, the Q5 may be the better option. Though the Q5 appears to be a better value, Q7 owners believe the SUV is fairly priced for the extra features, performance, and safety it offers.
The Audi Q5 features two different 2.0L four-cylinder engine options. One delivers 201 horsepower while the other delivers 261. It gets 22 to 23 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The Audi Q7 is available with the same 261 horsepower 2.0L four-cylinder engine, but you can also opt for a 335 horsepower 3.0L V6, which packs a bigger punch but reduces the SUV’s fuel economy. It gets 18-19 MPG in the city and 22 to 25 MPG on the highway.
When choosing the Q5 or Q7, it’s important to remember that the Q5 has far more cargo space than its Q7 counterpart. You’ll have nearly 26 cubic feet of space with every seat in place and just over 54 cubic feet with the second row seating folded down. In terms of leg and headroom, the Q7 is the clear winner. It has 41.7 inches of legroom compared to the 40.9 in the Q5. In other words, the Q7 offers the most room for comfort during long trips, but the Q5 allows you to take more luggage.
The other major difference between these two SUVs is the turn radius and handling. The Q5 has a much tighter radius, which makes it easy to maneuver in and out of parking spots or other tight spots. The Q5 is also a slimmer vehicle, so it can fit into smaller spaces that may be difficult for the Q7.
